Seven in NJ Honored as “Lucky Star Vets
The following Vets have joined the Lucky Star Program, pledging a limited number of absolutely free spay neuter surgeries and other services to the needy animals of their choice in 2004: Dr. Ohad Barnea, Cliffside and Crossroads Animal Hospitals in Cliffside Park and Fort Lee, Drs.Erno Hollo, Kelly Vex, Lorraine Marks & Leah Gibbs, Basking Ridge Animal Hospital, Dr. Harvey E. Hummel, Andover Animal Hospital and Dr. P. Picone, Audubon Veterinary Associates,

Together their pledges total 80 free surgeries for 2004, for which they receive no financial compensation!

These Lucky Star Vets are key and generous partners in the effort to curb the enormous problem of animal over population. We salute each of them and thank them most sincerely for their generosity.

It’s SPAY Day USA!
The 10th Annual Spay Day USA will take place on February 24, 2004. Cat and Dog overpopulation is literally a nationwide epidemic, an estimated 5 million cats and dogs are killed in our nations shelters every year. Extensive spaying and neutering is key to solving this terrible problem. Here are some things we can all do to help: (1) spay or neuter your companion animal. (2) don’t let your animal have “just one litter”, that just adds to the problem (3) adopt from shelters and rescue groups (4) seek help for feral cat colonies. Feeding them without spay neuter increases the problem. Get them spayed and neutered if they remain in the wild (5) donate to groups funding spay neuter surgeries (6) deal only with reputable breeders (7) seek advice from your local humane society, animal control officer or Vet if you know of stray animals needing help.
