“TAX TIME” IS “S/N FUND TIME” IN NJ
2013 is the 4th tax yr for donating to the Cat & Dog S/N Fund by “x-ing” a box on the NJ 1040, entering a $ amt & the Fund’s ID#10. $’s fund low cost S/N’s for pets adopted from shelters & pets of folks on public assistance. Demand far exceeds this & other designated $’s from Animal Friendly Lic. Plates & dog license surcharges. So, how’s the S/N tax “x-off option” doing? Per the NJ Treas. $8,300 came in the 1st yr, & $25,300 & $21,300 in each of the next 2 yrs. NOT SO GOOD! In contrast, “Endangered Wildlife” received tax check off donations of $223,900+ in just the most recent tax year alone!)
SCARLET PAWS! GO RUTGERS!!
I was happy to learn of this Rutgers based non-profit helping animals, wild & domestic, abandoned, stray, lost, feral, injured, born or otherwise found on the New Brunswick Campuses of Rutgers University. They’re a collaboration of Rutgers staff, faculty, students & community volunteers making a long-term commitment to the welfare & well-being of these animals, following the example of animal welfare groups at other colleges and universities.
