Our Lucky Stars
We currently have 9 member veterinarians in private practice and 1 spay neuter clinic participating, representing 9 hospitals in 9 NJ towns.

ANIMAL RESCUE COALITION OF NJ (ARC) PROPOSES SPAY/NEUTER BILL
ARC has proposed Assembly bill A1827, sponsored by L. Greenstein (Mercer & Middlesex) and R. Boonton NJ TNR Plan Working
“A program begun last year to trap and neuter the felines before releasing them back where they were trapped has been successful, said Boonton health officer Steve Austin....Austin estimated that 73 feral cats underwent the procedure last year. This process works because we won’t have the kittens to deal with...”(Daily Record, Morris Co. NJ, pg A12, May 13th 2006)
Rhode Island Legis. OK’s Cat Bill
RI overwhelmingly passed a mandatory spay neuter bill that would make it the 1st State to prohibit keeping fertile cats. The Bill, to be sent to the Gov’nor by May 31st could reduce the number of cats euthanized annually in RI by up to 65%. If signed, the bill would compel owners to spay/neuter any pet cat more than 6 mos. old unless the owner buys a $100 a year permit or a breeder’s license. Violators would be fined $75/mo.Bill exempts farmers & subsidizes low-cost spay/ neuter for pets of low income owners. RI’s 39 pounds and 8 private shelters killed 6,850 cats from 2002 to 2004.
CROSBY, STILLS & NASH!
These 3 young cats trapped as kittens last Fall and “fixed” thanks to the donation reported here “In Memory of Merlin” can be seen at www.sheltershowcase.com. Crosby, a boy, loves to play. Stills, the girl, is a bit shy. Nash, a boy, is still wary of people. Merlin and their rescuer have gotten them this far. Please keep them in mind as they look for their new homes! Thank you!
