Our Lucky Stars
We currently have 10 member veterinarians in private practice and 1 spay neuter clinic participating, representing 9 hospitals in 9 NJ towns.

Floridians Giving Up Their Pets
Job losses and foreclosures are forcing difficult choices. Shelters are filled, with long waiting lists. “It's not something that they want to do, it's something that they absolutely have to do," said the Naples Humane Society. And, a cat rescue group on Marco Island, says the trend is increasing. Both shelters now report about 6 times more than the normal number of pets being turned over, a trend they expect to get worse.

Spay Day Article re:Two nj cities
The Feb 27th online edition of The Record, North Jersey.com, reported the following grim info re ongoing need for spay/neuter: The Clifton Animal Shelter serves Clifton, as well as Wallington, Little Falls, Carlstadt and Montclair, on nights & weekends. Last year, 383 stray dogs were brought in, up nearly 20 %. The number of the cats at the shelter last year, 637, was up 10%. The shelter has only 30 cat cages and 14 dog cages. If an animal is not adopted in a week, it is destroyed. In Paterson, nearly all of the animals taken to the city's shelter are strays. About 135 dogs and 60 cats come into the facility each month!
Iowa Town drops $5 Cat bounty
In March, the Randolph Iowa Town Council reversed the Mayor’s unpopular and ineffective $5 bounty set on live feral cats brought in for destruction. The program produced much outrage, bad publicity nation wide and poor results. The town, population 200 people, has agreed to work with Alley Cat Allies and others to try TNR.
