Our Mission: To gather, recognize and celebrate the continuing annual commitment of each of our member veterinarians to provide some level of absolutely free spay neuter services to the needy animals of their choice, along with any other free services they choose to provide.

NJ CAT VS DOG:ADOPTS & SURRENDERS

Aug 6, 2025 : “…In NJ, the # of both intakes & transfers out of shelters & rescues for cats out#’d dogs in 2024, & it wasn't even close….According to Shelter Animals Count data, facilities in NJ took in 54,322 cats (up 5.3% from 2023) to just 35,434 dogs (up .98% from 2023). This led to 8,509 cats being transferred out in addition to just 6,722 dogs leaving the facility….This trend is echoed by the (NJ’s) Associated Humane Societies (AHS), … In 2024, they faced a record-breaking influx of 7,429 animals with more than 60 percent of them being strays. Of the animals adopted, 1,634 were cats & kittens to just 1,228 dogs & puppies…. According to the ASPCA, the length of time… large breeds of dogs are staying in shelters has increased over the last 5 yrs… shelters nationwide are also in a capacity crisis…”
