“Woofs” and “Meows” of Thanks
Despite the considerable pressures of the current economic environment, our Lucky Stars have all renewed their pledges for 2008. This is wonderful news for the many needy animals they plan to help. There is never a shortage of such needy cases & each that finds one of our Lucky Stars is one lucky cat or dog. On their behalf, we send these happy “meows” and “woofs” in gratitude!

Neutersol® NEWs

Per Alliance for Contraception in Dogs & Cats (ACC&D)“Animal Balance” (www.animalbalance.net)hoped to sterilize most of the dogs in the Galapagos Islands. Many of the dogs lived on remote farms, and most owners refused to have their dogs castrated fearing the dogs would stop hunting or guarding.

Neutersol®, a non-surgical sterilant for male dogs, was temporarily available via a U.S. distributor. Animal Balance fixed 97% of the dogs on Isabella Island, many with Neutersol®. Meanwhile, ACC&D works toward:(1) Making sure Neutersol® will be an effective tool when reintroduced soon in the U.S.,(2) Bringing an affordable generic version of Neutersol® to Mexico in 2008,(3) Exploring the potential of a 3-yr contraceptive for feral cats in the U.S. & (4) Continuing the search for permanent non-surgical alternatives for cats and female dogs.
