BODEGA CATS OF NYC
https://pix11.com/news/local-news/bodega-cats-could-become-legal-and-more-cared-for-under-proposed-nyc-law/ They’re about as New York as the subway, the Empire State Building, or a perfect pizza slice. Bodega cats inhabit many of the thousands of delis across the city’s 5 boroughs, & while many are well cared for by shop owners & customers … care for the cats isn’t universally high-quality, & the cats are officially illegal in businesses that have food on premises. A proposed initiative hopes to change all that for the better. A petition by “Bodega Cats of NY” Petition · Supporting NYC's Bodega Cats: A Community Resource Initiative - New York, United States · Change.org calls for a citywide certification for cats in businesses. Cats would have to meet safety guidelines so stores would not risk fines for having them. It would also establish a fund to keep these cats spayed, neutered & healthy, helping small business owners w/vet bills & ensure that cat owners are trained to care for the pets in their businesses.

UNINTENDED CONSEQUENCES?

A recent government freeze on credit card usage has thrown military veterinary clinics into dis-array, impacting care of service members' pets & military working dogs. This temporary halt, initia-ted by an executive order aimed @ federal cost efficiency, has caused a major disruption in base veterinary services, leaving military families scrambling for alternatives. PAST PRESIDENTIAL“PROCLAMATIONS”
Courtesy of the Catherine Violet Hubbard Foundation https://www.cvhfoundtion.org : “… Abraham Lincoln was a devout animal lover. Not only did he adore his pet dogs but he also regularly took strays into the White House & was gifted 2 kittens from a cabinet member. When his wife Mary Todd Lincoln was asked if her husband had any hobbies, she replied, “cats.” …in the timeless words of the man himself:

"I am in favor of animal rights as well as human rights. That is the way of a whole human being."
