WHY ARE U PASSIONATE ABOUT S/N?
SOURCE:SNAP SanDiego:"I am a shelter veteri-narian by training, & I have worked in shelters across the US of varying sizes & resource levels. I have worked in shelters where, at the end of every single day, the director would need to go out to the kennels & choose 15 healthy dogs to die because there was simply not enough kennel room for all the animals flowing in as surrenders & strays. The people who work these jobs do it because they have massive hearts & love the animals; it is heartbreaking for the animals' loss of life & for the people who love them to have to make that terrible decision. Especially when the public does not understand the scale & scope of the problem & attacks shelters that are in this horrible position. Until there is a home for every single healthy, adoptable pet & until I am out of a job as a shelter veterinarian because our kennels are empty, I will always fight for S/N. Every single litter prevented is that many lives saved of pets who need loving homes today."

PILOT GRANT FOR ATLANTIC COUNTY?
A $150,000 grant for a 1 yr pilot program in Atlantic County has been introduced in the NJ Legislature (A3692) to establish a free S/N & vaccination clinic for cats @ the Atlantic Co. Animal Shelter. Goal: to manage the local cat population, reduce #of stray & feral cats, & decrease rate of cats impounded & euthanized, aiming to provide services at no cost to comm-unity members, w/focus on controlling the over-population of cats in the County. This proposed government funding comes on top of existing initiatives in the area, such as Alley Cat Allies collaboration w/the Humane Society of Atlantic County which has provided $ to S/N & vaccinate thousands of cats in Atlantic Co. since 2022.

NATIONAL PET DAY is April 11, 2026
https://www.nationaldaycalendar.com/national-day/national-pet-day-april-11 Important & thoughtful ways to help all species not only dogs & cats. 2026’s Day also “encourages helping out orphaned pets to improve their health & their chance for adopt-ion.” Unfortunately, they don’t mention S/N! Maybe we can “fix” that for 2027. Worth a try!
