FOCUS: PETOWNERS IN TRANSITION
The Community Spay Neuter Initiative Partner-ship (C-SNIP) is a non-profit, providing HQHV LC S/N surgeries for dogs & cats of caretakers not able to afford full service veterinary care. C-SNIP received a $45,000 BISSELL grant for S/N in West Michigan. Since August 2014, the award has helped over 1,200 cats and dogs! C-SNIP focused this grant on pets of people in transition, specifically students, seniors & military veterans. The BISSELL Pet Foundation is a 501(c)(3) funded by BISSELL Homecare, a 137-year-old Grand Rapids-based floor care appliance brand.

Surprised to read that this Atlanta-based company offers to cryogenically store stem cells collected by your veterinarian from your dog’s S/N surgery to be available for future use in your dog’s care as stem cell therapy advances.

A “WHAT IF……?” BECOMES A REALITY
A Vet Clinic employee asked: “Wouldn’t it be awesome if we could do a world record S/N-a-thon?” She & the clinic owner & the HS of S. Arizona got help from The Arizona Veterinary Medical Assoc. An empty school was tapped to house the clinic; 2 professors at the Pima Medical Institute assigned entire classes of veterinary technicians to the event; local organizations, council-members, police & a radio station donated time & $. Veterinarians from nearby cities signed up. 1 year in planning, the event, which lasted 56 hrs, fixed 800 pets & 100’s more signed up for future low-cost or free S/N’s
