NJ’S S/N PILOT PROGRAM BEGINS?
NJ’s Dept. of Health (DOH) seeks up to 6 counties for pilot. Each must name a coordinator, supply background info & list of all shelters, pounds & kennels operating as such, each of which must agree to comply with the pilot’s terms, which require "all" cats & dogs be “fixed” before release. Exceptions for those under 6 months: a deposit is required, refundable on proof of sterilization or vet letter saying doing so bad for the animal’s health. Many see this ex-emption as a major shortcoming. Letters of intent were due Feb 15. As of our publication date, no counties had responded! Bummer!
ZEUTERIN DELAY-TRAINING GOES ON
In Dec 2012, Ark Sciences, Inc. announced the timeline for final FDA approval of their manufacturing facility is being extended largely due to incomplete documentation filed by a supplier. They expect Zeuterin™ will be available by mid-2013. Meanwhile they will continue training of veterinarians & will continue to provide the product free of charge to clinics & shelters doing the training between now & product launch. FDA has already approved Zeuterin™ as safe, effective and permanent. Demo vials of Zeuterin™ produced at their US site are cleared for use in post-approval studies & in training.
