S/N HELP ENDS 4 PETS OF HOMELESS
https://vancouverhumanesociety.bc.ca/posts/saying-goodbye-to-helping-people-pets-in-crisis
In 2021, the VHS launched “Helping People & Pets in Crisis” (HPPC) providing preventive care for pets of folks, many w/ little to no income, w/o a permanent place to live or fleeing violence,(such as living outside, or in temporary shelters, transition homes or recovery houses. ) Applicants are unable to pay for the mandatory vet care needed to secure a space in a shelter or permanent housing for themselves and their pet. The program fully funded services such as having their pet S/N’d, vacc’d, dewormed, & flea free so pets could remain with their people. Due to lack of $, VHS ended HPPC on 12-31-23.Instead, lifesaving care is addressed by a more viable fund that VHS administers.
