FIXING UKRAINE’S STRAY DOGS & CATS
https://www.nowzad.com/news/article/rabies-prevention-in-ukraine May 2024- “The invasion into the country by Russian forces in 2022 caused almost 12 million people to flee their homes, many of whom had no choice but to leave their animals behind. These dogs & cats …joined the already high # of stray animals on the streets, desperately search-ing for very limited resources. #s exploded rapid-ly, w/tens of thousands of puppies & kittens born on the streets ea. yr. Ukraine is now among the top 10 countries in the world w/the largest # of stray animals. One approach that offers a humane & sustainable solution however is the Trap-Neuter-Vaccinate-Return … model-a programme that we have been successfully using in Afghan-istan for many yrs now. In 2023, Nowzad was awarded the Global Alliance for Rabies Control Award for our TNVR work in Kabul, & it is something we’re unashamedly very proud of.”

NEW FOCUS ON S/N IN PUERTO RICO
Video:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZAIiQOIBpTI
“It is a reminder that the old model is not enough. We cannot rescue our way out of this. The strategic diversion of our resources towards S/N/vaccination initiatives, which include Opera-tion Sato, TNR … & our community voucher pro-gram, is an acknowledgment of that harsh real-ity. We must disrupt this systemic problem @ the root by preventing the birth of unwanted litters & the spread of disease. It is the only way we have a shot @ reducing the suffering for the satos of Puerto Rico.”…Chrissy Beckles, The Sato Project
